Mac and Cheese :p

I kinda promised myself and someone that I’ll try my best to improve this area in life as we inch closer to the day. Then after that can just follow best practices of the pro herself inshaAllah.

Alkisah, Majda’s friends came over and I had to take over lunch prep while she finished her project with her friends. So happy that they nearly finish everything. Yaay. Afterwards, Ummi and Ameen didn’t mind mac and cheese for iftar so round 2 it was! This time, more hands on for me. I felt as if I was taking some practical cooking test with le chef looking and instructing when I was in doubt. Of course, couldn’t have managed it without her help!

So I’ll end the post with the simple recipe!

Recipe for Ada’s Mac and Cheese:

Part 1 – Boil Macaroni

  • Boil water
  • Add olive oil and a pinch of salt
  • Add macaroni to boiling water and stir occasionally for 7-8 minutes
  • Drain water and rinse macaroni with cold water

(While waiting for the macaroni to soften, cut some capsicums + chicken!)

Part 2 – Cook Chicken

  • Cut chicken or to save time, just buy the ready minced chicken :p
  • Mix it with herbs, pepper, garlic and chili powder
  • Add olive oil and stir fry till evenly cooked

Part 3 – Prepare the paste

  • Add 3-4 spoons of butter
  • Add 3 spoons of flour
  • Add 1 box of cooking cream every 2-3 mins (x 3)
  • When paste looks semi solid/liquid (pekat) add herbs, pepper and chili powder
  • Add cheese
  • Add in cooked chicken
  • Add macaroni

Donez! 1 hour+ (due to prep of ingredients huhu)

Update: Spent $40 on ingredients. Managed to feed 10 rounds (10 pax) so $4 per person is soooo good! Bazaar jual at $7 per meal. huhu.

Extra cheese? Bake it in the oven and you’ll get baked mac and cheese.

Okay enough of cheese. (My sister looooves cheese haha) But my taste buds yearn for Roti Kirai and Ayam Masak Merah. Stay tuned!

Orang tu #HaFood kte #Chefatiha (feeling mesti lebih lol). Gotta enjoy this while I can huhu. Alhamdulillah for time :’)

Ayat of The Day:

The passing away of 2 significant figures (Dr Morsi and my brother’s classmate) have made me reflect on death a little more…I’ve never met either one but your passing have touched so many. So many souls made solatul janazah for them. May Allah accept and grant both the best resting place and may we follow suit and be granted husnul khotimah too. Aameen.
