Drink 1 Litre Before it’s too Late

My kind of flat lay HAHA

Such a wonderful day to take the day off from work. The weather has been really nice and lulling one to slumber especially so after a hearty fish meal. ahhh~ Alhamdulillah.

But work beckoned me to the laptop and I just had to write something to gain momentum before doing other stuff. 😀

A conversation with someone the other day sparked me to write this post. I found out that a simple plain water can be disastrous too, if one consumes too much. This is because our kidneys take time to filter the liquid intake and we do not want to overwork our kidneys. So recently, a relative was diagnosed with kidney failure and due to that, his ability to filter water is not as quick as how a normal body would have usually worked. This results in a high water retention rate where other parts of his body would then have to retain the liquid, making them swell in size.

I got shocked that such a harmless liquid can have negative effects. I thought to myself, everything really does need to be taken in moderation. Hence, one needs to strike a balance in  e v e r y t h i n g  he does. 1L per day is a good start I think? I’m really glad that I’ve been consistent on this 1L challenge. (A few misses but good job self!) Especially when we have other/s on the same journey as us.

Look at what I did there. The plain water patiently waiting for me after a cup of coffee (I don’t drink coffee as a staple but I badly needed one the other day >< when I was so sleepy but had to get work done within an hour)

Such a habit of drinking plain water is a good alternative for young people who would rather drink sugary drinks (ehem!) which definitely has a greater list of negative effects when consumed too much. I really love how Michelle Obama campaigned to the citizens of America to drink more water. She packaged the habit by making it look like the new trend in town and partnered with the big boys of sugary drinks themselves, abang akak Coca-cola, Pepsi etc. Essentially, she lived by the spirit of, “if you can’t beat them, join them”. So instead of overpowering and boycotting these big shots, she curated an alternative along with them. This approach not only helped launch a successful campaign but also to create a solution. A solution that does not sound preachy with “BE HEALTHY” taglines but a soft, subtle approach. I mean, I remember what Senpai said the other day during his lecture on Poverty. Institutions can create all the campaign they want or give aid to those in need. But if the individual does not act on it, apply and use resources wisely, things would never work. Passion drives action gituuu. Hence to change the mindset of these people to drink more water is such a good first step.

Ahhh goals.

Conclusion of this post: Be moderate, eat and drink healthy, invest now for a better tomorrow! InshaAllah ok! Let’s do this! 🙂
