Ibrah dari Kisah Nabi Ismail a.s

Today, Ustazah shared about Nabi Ismail a.s. A story of how he stood strong and believed in Allah’s command to be sacrificed by his own father. A father who prayed so long to have him in his arms.

Key takeaways:

  • Nabi Ibrahim a.s prayed for an offspring that would continue on his dakwah
    (رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ )
  • Nabi Ismail a.s did not waver when faced with such a challenging and frightening task. He believed and submitted.
  • He was an example of a pious young man. Reminder to utilise our youthful years well.
  • He exemplified how parents are the best role models for their children. This can be seen in the character of his mother, Hajar when she too, was tested by Allah to be left alone in a barren land (now Makkah). She believed in Allah’s command and submitted.
  • When faced with difficulties, one should not crumble and run. Instead, one should increase in faith ( وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا  )

I was especially moved when Ustazah mentioned about putting the intention of having children, first and foremost, because we want them to continue our dakwah.

From Allah, for Allah and to Allah.

I felt like a bottle ready to explode. A mix of feelings racing to consume me.

I am excited and happy, as I count the days till The day. Yet, I can’t help feeling sad knowing my dad is alone and unwell. I can’t help but to think of so many extreme possibilities – both good and bad – just to prep myself mentally.

So this nudge which came in the form of a hope by a parent, a father came in timely. Planted in a beautiful doa of Nabi Ibrahim a.s as he prayed for a child, it embraced me with warmth. I know Abah and Ummi would want us to continue their dakwah.

I need to be strong and carry on. Whatever happens, I want to fulfill their hopes that their children would be beneficial to the ummah.

So instead of feeling sad (naturally of course), I should be empowered and be reminded that there is a task at hand.

Ya Allah kuatkan kami…

And then there’s my friend who took a photo of me in class:
