T-99, Ar-Rahman

I quickly ensured that all switches were off and made my way to the door while my mind was occupied with thoughts and hopes to get back home early. I held the centre’s key in my right hand and was about to lock the place when I saw my HOD walking past. We acknowledged each other and I couldn’t help but to blurt out about going into the office to pass the key to a fellow colleague. What happened next was a simple but meaningful gesture coming from a person of higher status. He offered to wait for me to lock the place and to pass the key – allowing me to save the precious minutes and thus, going home earlier.

Ya Rabb, it’s the simple things that I take for granted. Today, I learnt that a doa goes a long way. It was merely a passing thought about going home early on a lovely Friday evening. Indeed, a reminder to always be wary of any thoughts, intent and prayer. Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah.

In relation to my post’s title, allow me to document what I have in mind on how to go about this 1 day, 1 name of Allah. (Was inspired by Kak Mar, Kak Zee and Arina as they shared 99 names of Allah each day on their insta/WhatsApp stories before)

I wanted to refer to a book so that I can understand the names better but I couldn’t find the book at home. It’s this super heavy and thick book:

I stopped reading this a long time ago. Because its thickness discouraged me. Oh dear self…huhu

But then I remembered a book given to me by Kak Nurul from Aceh. A sister whose words would always be accompanied by His glorious names.

In contrast, this book is super light to read and hold.

It’s very applicable as it links Allah’s names to wonderful characters that we can try to emulate. Hence, moving forward, I will try my best to share the characteristics here daily, if not 2-3 times a week, inshaAllah.

Can’t help but to feel a connection to this name as it is my go-to surah for several months now where I would just play the mashaAllah recorded Surah when I’m down and the fact that Syafiqah and I are revising it. May Allah ease ❤

ALSO,

Found this research paper about good design and how we often use it as a benchmark in order to satisfy consumers. The authors wrote this article in hopes to revisit the ultimate benchmark in life – pleasing Allah. Thus it is only appropriate for us to base our benchmark against His expectations. It’s an interesting research about moving from good desing to excellent design. Truly an eye-opener how designers can facilitate human beings in pursuing Allah’s pleasure though their design. Have a read!
