Samrah Family Day

Tuesday, 5th Feb 2019

Thank you Young Samrah’s Core Team (shout out to kakak majulah and Ameen!) for painstakingly plan and execute our first ever family day. They even camped there to “book” the area at East Coast Park. Barakallahu feekum! Usually, we meet once a year during eidul fitr. So today was quite refreshing.

We started off with potluck breakfast. Then Cik Zahid led the warm up. I like how chill it was as we were given some time to continue breakfast after warm up due to some latecomers. We finally started our first game with 4 groups (makciks group, pakciks group, young ladies group and gentlemen group) competing to fill up 2 buckets with sea water. Catch is to fill it up with cups that have holes in them and everyone needs to participate. Makciks and Gentlemen groups did a chain and passed the cups. While Pakciks had 1 member to run with the cup from the bucket to the sea and back to the bucket. Then they switch players. Young ladies on the other hand stationed 2-3 people to scoop water (because some didn’t want to get wet) and pass to a pair who will run to pour the water. Geram je with pakcik2, so kecoh. and yes, they won due to “pengalaman dalam kehidupan”. :””)

Next was station games. It was still 4 groups. But now each group consists of 3-4 families. Not everyone has to complete each station. There were the lemon eating, push up, drink a concoction, mind teaser, skipping rope and make the word “SAMRAH” challenges. Haha we won last as we got held up at the mind teaser challenge.

Last was Family Trivia! We had a simple exhange of updates in life/taaruf prior to the game and then organisers asked questions that describe each family. We nearly won this.

LOL. Pakciks paling semangat.

We ended the day with Tazkirah – Lunch – Zuhur

Ustaz Azmi shared about the brothers and sisters within the dakwah line who have passed on. The amanah of children that one leaves behind and the importance of khidmah to our parents. He advised us to keep in touch with those who couldn’t make it for our events. To think good of them as they might have their reasons or problems why they couldn’t be with us today. He touched upon the little messages of dakwah via social media that we share so easily and the daily updates of reciting Quran on WhatsApp groups do not define our ultimate goal. It is not the end of our journey. Those are merely tools (wasilah, jalan) for us to reach our supposed goal and claim our supposed role. Khalifah yang beribadah. Deep sangat, jauh sangat………….Nonetheless, thankful for the spiritual injection.

Went back home and lepak (top up energy) for awhile before ibu and cousins came to send nenek back to Bedok! Nenek immediately noticed the new purple-pink mug and said that it is beautiful. Indeed. MashaAllah. Psst, thank you.

We watched Hush on Netflix (I couldn’t survive 5 minutes when I tried to watch it alone) while browsing through old albums that nenek brought here and planned for a family trip to JB to buy sedondon dusty pink baju :’) Alhamdulillah for the people around me who share this happiness.

Ok Hush was a bad idea. Cheap thrills. Basically a psycho trying to kill a deaf person. Tkde storyline punnnn. Ok dah.

Ayat of The Day:

Make us among the certain.
