In Islam, we are taught to live life as a traveler. To not get attached to fleeting moments and ephemeral things as our aim is the eternal life in the hereafter.
It struck me deeply as I found myself in a state of ease and a lot of free time as I packed my luggage on the last day of our trip. There were not many things to pack and most were already in their places.
I felt…ready to go home.
If only our lives are tailored the same way. When you have stocked enough for the next phase in life, you sit and wonder, how easy it is to transit from one place to the other.
You don’t need to scramble for things in the last hour for what lies ahead.
You don’t have to repack.
You’re simply, ready for anything.
Hence today’s reminder from the mother was timely as I reflected on what to write for this trip’s report (yes there’s a report to receive reimbursement from the G) and also on the recent tsunami that hit Indonesia.
