Sometimes, we need to be strict on ourselves. Question and be critical about our actions.
For example, prioritization of the Quran.
“Why do you prioritize checking your phone for notifications, read all the messages and sometimes, be awfully excited about it upon waking up?
Shouldn’t you be thanking Him for waking you up?
Shouldn’t His words be the first thing you read? Why are you not as excited to read His words?”
Ahhhh these questions hit me hard. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.
So when my Ummi asked if I wanted to accompany her to play bowling, my heart went “yessss” but the body went “noooo” and naughty head had to think twice? Ugh.
When it comes to parents,
Expectation, model answer: Anything for you, in a heartbeat.
Reality: Must I? So penaaat.
I thought of the free time I had before 12pm class and fought off the urge to lepak. I also told myself in a sarcastic manner: “Jangan sibuk ambil hati mak orang lain kalau hati mak sendiri kau lupakan.” Ugh hit me hard.
I don’t know about you, but as a student, I spend a considerable amount of time outside, making time to meet friends over projects, CCAs and events.
That 1 game of bowling. If it means the world to her, then drop other things. Drop them and run to please your miftaah to heaven. Keys to heaven.
As always, it is easier said than done.
So moral of the story is that, you know yourself better. Sometimes all it takes is to just be strict and critical of our actions. Self talk gitu..
Alhamdulillah for the time spent with Ummi ❤
May Allah ease our journey to please our keys to heaven!
