Salah ke kalau kurus?

I wish I did not have to highlight the mehh moment of the day but it happened and it happened in a congregation of supposedly “certified” individuals due to their observance to certain ethics. Ugh the irony!

Singapore has a system called Asatizah Recognition Scheme which not only acts as a filter for those who are “certified” to teach but also a platform to mould and guide them into what is palatable to the secular state we live in (positively influence our thinking. I hope) and of course (my fave part!) to nurture and develop asatizah with skills and knowledge (there’s even vlogging courses now. wow!). The last part about life-long upgrading and learning is so important I feel. One thing I can’t stand is for asatizah to think that they have enough knowledge already. Na’udzubillah.

I did not know I had to attend a compulsory course which discusses on the Ethics Asatizah should uphold. Hence, I’ve been cherry-picking my courses to satisfy the 30 hours of Continuous Professional Education (CPE) points since 2017. Finally dragged myself to this one (actually no, I did not drag my feet as I was super nervous because I met Ummi again haha. Cari chance lah. Definitely made my day better huhu. Eternally thankful!!).

As I walked into the auditorium, this Ustazah greeted me with “eh kurusnya awak!” and a “mudanya saya suka tengok orang-orang muda.”

Wah I can’t eh. Kurus salah, gemuk salah. The fact that a “certified” asatizah starts off a conversation by commenting on how one looks took me off guard and ruined my morning zzzz. I shrugged it off as there’s no point feeling insecure because people will always judge you.

Thing is, I had to remind myself that it’s not my place to judge her ethics on this.  But definitely an irony as asatizahs are certified based on ethics (+academic certification) and the fact that every single asatizah has to go through a course on ethics but still behave this way (!!) is just beyond me.

Ya Allah, please guide us, beautify us with the best of ethics as humans. Aameen ❤

Banyak lah tak affected by the comment. Came home and complained to Ummi Mummy and she advised me this:

 وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ – 2:67

No worries everyone. I’m ok! MashaAllah Alhamdulillah for my Ummis and their wise advice. Also such an important lesson about ethics today…hmm #nts
