Alhamdulillah.
For ending the journey of #interninsyirah with a happy note on a beautiful day and in a blessed month. I got quite emotional at the end when I received a flower (gosh I forgot the name of the flower already. 1 thing for sure, it is NOT a sunflower haha) from the project manager. A wave of memories rushed in as I recall how she was the one who interviewed us, welcomed us, brought us around in her car, belanja us and always looking out for us. So motherly, sisterly and definitely such a great person to work with. ❤
I really want to update my instagram with internship highlights but I can’t bring myself to do it now. There are more than 300 photos to begin with haha.
In summary, the 3 words I wrote to describe the organisation in my report were: Inspiring, Noble and Family.
I am inspired by the unsung heroes behind every event and initiative. I am moved by the servant leadership of those I work for. I am driven by the mission of reading more, widely and together. I am in love with the their aim to promote learning and knowledge in every aspect of what they do. Most importantly, I am at peace with its people where I feel at home – like family.
There was also another farewell for a senior staff going on in office and it was really touching to have witnessed it. I do not have the exact figures but I heard others expressing how she had worked here for more than 20 years. In fact, others echoed her numbers and the minimum duration they all had in common was to have at least served for 5 years. Now, that kind of employee loyalty and retention rate speaks volumes as it shows dedication and a wonderful working environment. To which one of them said,
“Books give us stress but books also give us comfort.” :’)
Afterwards, I went straight to school as I am now on a mission to get myself in shape for a non-competitive 5km ladies run this October!
The school was crowded with a sea of fresh new faces. I felt so out of place while trying to find familiar seniors until I realised that I AM THE SENIOR. :’)
Did a quick visit to MS booth and went off to find Wani and Athirah.
I am eternally grateful to have Wani and Athirah for I found strength deep within me to keep going although my body instructed me to stop running 10 minutes into the workout. Seeing them by my side pushed me to run more, to stay true to our aim. Alhamdulillah, managed 3km in 35 mins (hahahaiz). We can do this! Aim is to get 5km in less than 30mins. I will need to double up the effort inshaAllah! I just really really hope that the school gym stays the way it was just now because at 7pm, on a Friday, I observed that all those working out were ladies! It will get crowded when school reopens next week but hmmm…I shall look into the profile of gym goers and subsequently propagate a ladies hour solution to attract more of us. Question is, do they need a ladies hour? This is because, the new gym removed the existence of a ladies room which the old gym had previously. Not sure about the supply demand but one can try!
Fun fact! Tampines ActiveSG gym has a ladies hour every Monday 2pm – 4pm
Towards small but continuous steps inshaAllah! 🙂
