Day 31: احفظ الله يحفظك

Have you ever encountered areas in life which were made easy for you? If you have, then alhamdulillah. If not, think and reflect more. There has to be something which Allah has made easy for you, no matter how insignificant it may seem through the lens of our ungrateful selves.

I am a firm believer of this hadith which I’ve quoted in my title. In summary, this hadith encourages one to preserve and take good care of the do’s and don’ts that Allah has prescribed upon us. When we ensure and safeguard Allah’s commands, He will safeguard our affairs in return.

Today is an example of how Allah made things easy for me.

I remember my first few days at the central library. It was so hard to pray in that building. Couldn’t find a corner. Even though I managed to contact a friend who was working there to help tap me into the musolla, it was fated that she had a company retreat that day. In the end, I walked all the way to Duo’s musolla ><

Today, I casually asked mummy V (she is like a mother to me now 😥 ) if her access card can be used at the central library as mine couldn’t. She said no and asked why. I explained that I needed it to tap into the prayer room at basement 2. She immediately called her friend there to prepare to let me in for the afternoon prayer. Mummy please, so kind. It was only 10am ya mind you.

Anyway we went to HQ (that’s what they call the central library in Bugis) to help with the logistical preparation for Read! Fest’s Launch tomorrow and for a mass briefing. (Which I finally met my NUS exchange friend, dear Yanqi, who is also an intern at the same organisation). It was 1pm and Mummy V reminded me to pray. Ya Allah Godsent sangat. To cut the story short, Mummy V’s friend could’t tap me in either as she was from another library and only had access to that library :’) So we seek more help and entered the office. There, we met another muslim who allowed yours truly to pray in their makeshift prayer room.

Used to be a pantry but now a prayer room

I am ever so thankful for the many souls who went out of their way to ensure I could pray???? :’) Alhamdulillah.

Reminds me of Drama Nur where they portrayed 2 different characters. One of which had it easy, Ustaz Adam who was born into a practicing family. In contrast, we have Nur who had to find ulu corners in some alley just to pray as her mother did not allow her to pray in their house.

Ya Allah, allow us to stay thankful for such convenience in prostrating to You ❤

May Allah continue to ease our way in preserving our 5 daily prayers especially amidst this upcoming hectic weekend. Aameen!

Before I end, I would like to take a moment to express how happy I am to have met all these people today!

  1. Yanqi (central library)
