Assalaamu’alaikum.

Today I decided to scroll down my archive of posts in my long forgotten Tumblr. Most of the posts surprised me. One of it, dated 4 years back, talked about The Sweetness of Faith. Being the adolescent that I was, I wrote with great emotion on the matter of ‘islamic’ BGR. One sentence caught me. I quoted a hadith (which is now part of my A-Levels Syllabus) :

Anas bin Malik (radi Allahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “There are three qualities whoever has them, will taste the sweetness of Iman: To love Allah and His Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) more than anyone else; to love a slave (of Allah) only for (the sake of) Allah; and to hate returning to infidelity after Allah has saved him from it as he would hate to be thrown into the fire (of Hell).”

Based on this hadith, it is reported that the sweetness of imaan is felt when you love somebody because of Allah. Love here means, you save each others skins from the HELL. So it cannot possibly be directed to ‘islamic’ BGR as such a relationship is not permissible in our Deen.

Real love? A love that saves us from hell.
Between husband and wife, family, friends and above all, between you and Allah.
