A meaningful life

Isn’t Google the sweetest?

Alhamdulillah. A year wiser inshaAllah.

I remember a love note from a dear sister who highlighted the fact that I refuse to show my birthdate on my facebook profile. I have a bag full of reasons for that. But the most prominent one would be to see who are those who remember my birthday without Facebook notifications.

Yet, what does one get from the remembrance of one’s birthday?
For the individual, it should act as a reminder of the limited number of days on Earth.
It should remind the individual to reflect of past doings.
It should act to remind the individual that nothing stays stagnant, that life goes on and does not wait for any men.

For the community around him?
I should think that birthdays should not only act as a reminder of death, it should also act as a tool for cohesion, a celebration to remind others of the bundle of joy who once was the apple of the eye. Or still is. 😉 A tool to add a little bit of happiness in this problematic world.

I end this post with a thank you to all who have wished me personally, discreetly or prayed for me secretly. May Allah bless us all a life which is meaningful.

Ameen.

Ps, I got a free ride from SMRT today. Just because the tap machine wasn’t working. Alhamdulillah? :’)
