Aren’t muslims supposed to be both? Enjoin and forbid

If you’ve been keeping up with current news then you’ll have read about the movement wearwhite . I intentionally viewed the video without prior knowledge of who the propagator was, knowing myself as a human who may judge an idea based on the person. (A habit I’m training to adopt is to accept ideas based on its objectives rather than who the person propagating the idea is). MashaAllah, the idea of going back to Fitrah overwhelmed me as the issue has been in my thoughts lately.

The movement, as everyone with a clear mind may see it, is and has been free of any force or confrontational. The idea is to grab the opportunity of the coming of Ramadan to come back to our roots, the natural way of life.

On another note, I fear the fall of Muslims here when one day…no one stands up to do Nahi Munkar.

This is according to Surah Ali Imran verse 110

“You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah . If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.”

According to the tafsir, this is THE secret to achieve the title The Best Ummah.

enjoin what is right
forbid what is wrong
and believe in Allah

The second command is very hard to adopt though. I myself struggle on that area. You cant be too harsh yet you cant be too lenient.

I sometimes get annoyed and question authority WHY why WHY, cant we advocate Hijab movement, wearwhite movement etc?

Reality is, we do it peacefully, quietly. YET, when the numbers rise, they quickly issue warnings and advice not to cause disunity within community.

MashaAllah. Isbirrrrr.
