of epitomes, symbols and qudwah hasanah

Ignore the bias tone I used in the previous post. I did not really weigh all arguments because that, after all is my personal, raw and honest view.

My life changed the day I read a book of Fatimah Syarha entitled, Tautan Hati. The ‘heroin’ which played the protagonist held my view of what a qudwah hasanah of our time should be.

Qudwah Hasanah = Role Model

Anyway, she is the epitome of an Ideal Muslimah who was named as, Asiah Yusra. Haha, I remember that book was like a bridge that found common ground between me and Aisyah. That book bloomed our friendship. Hence till this day, I use the name Yusra because it sounds nice and reminds me of who I aspire to be.

I do not deny that the wives of  The Prophet and his companions are undoubtedly THE BEST examples. Yet I find it easy to relate with this awesome character, Asiah Yusra in this modern day.

Roses are red…
The writer, Fatimah Syarha portrayed women as Roses throughout her books. It began shaping my perspective that hey, Women ARE like roses. Beautiful. But it does not stop there. A women should adorn herself like how a rose is eqquiped with thorns. A women should protect herself with iman (faith).

A rose with thorns.
A lady with principles.

Shine bright like the Sun!
I grew up with the popular “engkau umpama purnama….” phrase. Until one day someone posted something like,

A women should not be like the moon where everyone can admire.
Rather, she should be like the Sun, benefiting others, shining her own light and not let others gaze (or should I say gawk) at her beauty.

Word!

Buzzz….. like the bees.
Recently, I attended a talk at MUIS. The speaker gave a simple question through a simple analogy.

There are 3 types of workers. Which one would you want to be?

1) Ants
They are hardworking, always working together in achieving something.

2) Spiders
Hardworking, solo, trapping people in their webs.

3) Bees
Hardworking, working together and most importantly, they benefit millions.

SubhanAllah.

Look around you, tell me what you see.
