Back to reality

May peace and blessings be upon us.

Praises be to Allah The Almighty. January 10th was the day results were released. 2 pm was the time. Tentatively. I was at home, in the living room, laminating graduation cards.

I sent a brief message to my lady classmates in Whatsapp informing them of my lateness.

“Hurry! They are informing the top-10 O level scorers!” One of them exclaimed. I quickly responded with my free hand while trying to focus on the task at hand.

“1st is……..”

“2nd is….”

“Oh my!! You’re ninth!!!”
I was honestly shocked. Even mother stood speechless in her tracks.

So that was my version of events that happened. In the meanwhile, the people in the school auditorium paused for more than 30 seconds in search of yours truly. As reported by a close friend of mine. My feelings? Guilty and well, so grateful.

Reality is, I got my results. I am eligible for JC, POLY and ITE. I got my dream of being called up to stage (maybe I should have envisioned something more clearer like, actually standing ON the stage? ), made my parents content and proud.

The question is, what’s next?
I’ve been eying on Sociology and have always liked how critical and analytical the graduates are. But at the same time, I want to converge and apply it to our lives.
There is a saying that goes something like,

to learn from one’s mistakes is good. But to learn from others is wise.

I still dream and aspire to make the world a better and happier place to live in.
We all should too. No matter what area we pursue.

All the best!
